Wilhelmshaven is hardly known for the large numbers of IFR traffic it sees every day, but it is one of the secret little training bases for our AFIS S1 Trainees and of course very popular with the VFR-Community, especially our very Nordish "Friesenflieger". To spread the word about this interesting training airport and to invite the occasional IFR-Pilot brave enough to venture to the North in his LearJet or trustworthy TwinOtter/Islander/Beech, we are opening the airfield for 4hrs staffed by two motivated and excited Trainees on Wilhelmshaven Info, who are working on their AFIS S1 release.
Pilots arriving or departing under IFR should be familiar with IFR procedures at uncontrolled airfields and should not be scared by terms like "Relay", "Release" or "Airspace Foxtrot". Wilhelmshaven ist nun nicht für seinen zahlreichen IFR-Verkehr bekannt, allerdings erfreut es sich bei den neuen AFIS S1 - Trainees und auch den VFR-Piloten der Friesen einer gewissen Beliebtheit. Um den Platz ein wenig bekannter zu machen und auch den einen oder anderen IFR-Piloten in seinem LearJet oder der TwinOtter/Islander/Beech willkommen zu heißen, wird der Platz am 14. NOV 2014 für 4hrs von zwei lernwilligen und enthusiastischen Trainees gestaffed, die gerade an Ihrem AFIS S1 arbeiten.
Piloten unter IFR die den Platz anfliegen sollten mit IFR-Verfahren am unkontrollierten Flugplatz vertraut sein und sich von Begriffen wie Relay, Release und Airspace Foxtrot nicht abschrecken lassen.
