VATSIM Germany invites you to its third group flight on VFR Tuesday, 2010-05-18. This time, we will have two groups in the group flight where one group will fly from Koblenz to Nuremberg and the other from Nuremberg to Koblenz. Thus, on part of the routes the other group will be coming your way.
We propose a cruise speed of 115 KIAS, the route will take about two hours at that speed. The selection of a suitable aircraft is up to you, the Cessna 172 is definitely OK. If you\'d like to travel faster you are welcome to do so.
The selection of a suitable cruise altitude is also up to you. Please consult the ICAO chart (see the section \"Charts And Sceneries\" below) to determine the appropriate altitudes. Please do not fly into any airspace Charlie or Delta without the approval of ATC.
Naturally, we will be flying with daylight, so remember to adjust the simulated time accordingly. We also recommend a CAVOK weather setting, though you may choose otherwise as long as you make sure that your simulated weather meets the respective minima for the airspaces that you fly in.
To take part, simply join us on the ground at Koblenz or Nuremberg. Tell Koblenz Info or Nuremberg Ground that you\'d like to participate in the group flight. We intend to begin at 1730 UTC and have an aircraft depart about every two minutes with the support of the controllers. Please be ready to taxi before 1900 UTC. Estimated time en-route (ETE) is 0200. If you are registered with this forum, we\'d also like to ask you to \"vote\" for the starting point you have selected to give us an idea of the numbers of pilots we may expect.
Group A
The route starts at EDRK Koblenz-Winningen. After departure we turn to the Rhine river and follow its course to the south. After a short while, we reach the Lahn river where it joins the Rhine. Turning left, we follow the Lahn, keeping to its right. In the vicinity of Limburg we intercept radial 290 of the Metro VOR. Along R-290 MTR inbound, we fly to the A5 motorway. We now follow the A5 to the mandatory reporting point November of Frankfurt\'s CTR, observing the lower boundary of airspace Charlie which is at 1500\' MSL here. We cross the CTR from November to Lima and Juliett. Naturally, we have contacted EDDF_TWR Frankfurt Tower at least five minutes before reaching November. From Juliett we return to the Rhine, following its course to Mannheim. We pass the CTRs of ETOR Coleman and EDFM Mannheim City in an appropriate altitude and leave Mannheim along the Neckar river, keeping to the right again. Just before reaching Heilbronn, we pass the A6 motorway and turn to the east. Following the A6 while always remaining south of the motorway, we reach the mandatory reporting point Foxtrot of Nuremberg CTR. (If you are not able to follow the A6 in your scenery, you may use the Dinkelsbuhl VOR. Follow R-265 inbound DKB and R-070 DKB.) At least five minutes before reaching Foxtrot we contact Nuremberg Tower to get the permissions to enter the CTR and land at EDDN.
Group B
The route starts at EDDN Nuremberg. After departure we leave the CTR via Sierra. We follow the A6 motorway, keeping to the north. After passing the A81, just before reaching Neckarsulm, we turn north and follow the Neckar river to the Katzenbuckel mountain, climbing to at least 4000\' MSL. We contact EDDF_N_APP Frankfurt Arrival and request crossing airspace Charlie via Charlie VOR - Metro VOR. We leave Metro on radial 300 to Weilburg where we reach the Lahn river. Turning left we follow the Lahn keeping to the right side. Where the Lahn joins the Rhine, we have almost reached our destination EDRK Koblenz. Of course, we have contacted Koblenz Info at least five minutes before reaching the airport.
