[h]VATEUD, VATCAN and VATUSA are proud to present Cross The Pond Westbound 2011.[/h]
Cross The Pond has grown to become the most anticipated event on the VATSIM calendar, and to that end we are very excited to announce that our next Westbound leg will take place on Saturday 26th March 2011.
Cross The Pond is a bi-annual mass Oceanic crossing between Europe and North America; the event has been run without interruption for several years with a huge turnout each time, and we expect this year to be no different. Join us for a full day of busy, intense and (hopefully!) rewarding flying and controlling, as the skies fill up over the Atlantic once more.
We are delighted to offer an exciting set of feature fields, which will leave you spoilt for choice when choosing your slots:
Departure:
- Munich Franz Josef Strauss (EDDM)
- Amsterdam Schiphol (EHAM)
- Paris Charles De Gaulle (LFPG)
- Lisbon Portela (LPPT)
Arrival:
- Toronto Pearson Int\'l (CYYZ)
- Charlotte/Douglas Int\'l (KCLT)
- Cincinatti/Northern Kentucky Int\'l (KCVG)
- Detroit Metro Wayne County (KDTW)
- Newark Liberty Int\'l (KEWR)
We are particularly excited that Paris will, for the first time, be featured as a departure field after many requests over the years.
There will be 450 slots up for grabs this time round. Slots are now open - click here to book yours!
Join us on the 26th March for a truly unique experience on VATSIM; by mid-morning hundreds of people will be, puffy-eyed, attempting to find charts or the latest weather information, or in the case of the European controllers, listening to their final briefings for their local facilities in preparation for the horde. A couple of hours later, and the skies over Europe will be packed with aircraft all heading for the North Atlantic - with fully staffed enroute control all the way to the Oceanic border. From there, a dozen trained Oceanic controllers from Shanwick, Gander and Santa Maria will marshal the stream across the Ocean to the eastern seaboard, where scores of Canadian & US controllers will be standing by to guide you home.
See you there!
