Three years ago, the last passengers flew from one of the most prominent airports in the world: Tempelhof. It withstood 85 years of history and made itself a name with the Berlin Airlift and it\'s Candy Bombers, bringing food and hope to the people of Berlin.

On October 30 2008, a Dornier 328 ended the commercial history of Tempelhof. Half an hour later, shortly before midnight, a DC3 together with a JU52, departed one last time into the rainy sky over Berlin. What once was the \"mother of all airports\", the major destination for Genereal Aviation in Berlin, and a landmark inside of Germany\'s biggest city, now was nothing more than a city park used for recreation and fairs.

....though not on VATSIM....

Once again VATSIM Germany will revive the airport for 4 hours to give anyone the opportunity for the unique approach over Berlin\'s city lights and Tempelhof\'s rather short runways - a unique experience.
Between 17 and 21 UTC we will staff Tempelhof and its surrounding airspace, top to bottom, giving you the chance to arrive with any aircraft you wish. If Boeing or Cessna, IFR or VFR, everyone is welcome.

Where:
Berlin Tempelhof (EDDI)

When:
October 22, 2011 17:00 -21:00 UTC

Let\'s give it a shot and let Tempelhof\'s tarmac burn!

See you in Tempelhof!
